Adapted from a one-act screwball comedy by American playwright George M. Baker from 1873, “Wicked Waltz” explores societal reactions to challenging and rapidly developing pop culture trends, all set in 19th century Springfield. The waltz faced fierce opposition, due to its infectious rhythms and the ways that couples touched each other -- that set hearts aflame. Think “Footloose” in Hoop Skirts. Or “Little Women” meets the Marx Brothers.
