Intermediate/Advanced Jewelry:
Clasps and Mechanisms

Mondays January 7 - February 25:  6 - 9 PM [Meghan Tippy Reese]
We will explore functional mechanisms for finished jewelry with an emphasis on clasps. Students will learn about the construction of a variety of clasps, including toggles and box clasps, and we will use hand tools, saws, torches and precision tools for jewelry making to design and fabricate their own clasps for use in a handmade necklace or bracelet. Students should have prior jewelry instruction and must be able to solder, use hand tools, and studio equipment.Students should bring mechanical pencils, fine point sharpies, and hand tools if they have them. We will be using sheet metal, wire and tubing for constructing our clasps.
