Vanitas Painting (Oils/ Acrylics)

Wednesdays October 2 - October 23: 6 - 9 PM (4 WEEKS)  [Ashlynn Frey]
During this course, students will learn how to use tools and techniques to paint an expressive painting using oils or acrylics. Students will complete at least one painting. Students will learn the history behind Vanitas paintings and create their own symbolic still life. Working with the same “still life” over four weeks, students will learn how to paint from observation, measure, and use paint to bring the composition to life. The techniques and methods learned can be used for other genre of paintings such as portraiture, landscapes, and figurative. Supplies: We will discuss supplies on the first day of class. SAA has paint brushes, acrlyic paint, or oil paint you can use.
