Enjoy a night at the theater in our historic house museum. This year's play is "EMMA", a classic adaptation from Jane Austen's original novel, one of only six she ever wrote. While Austen is often thought of as a romance writer, Emma is an excellent example of her witty humor and social commentary. The play follows our titular character, Emma, as she blunders her way through match-making among the landed gentry in early 19th century England. Emma becomes her own obstacle, as, "The real evils, indeed, of Emma's situation were the power of having rather too much her own way, and a disposition to think a little too well of herself."
