Smartphone Sound Art

Fridays July 13 - 20 : 6 - 8PM [Zachary Buckley] $55 Non-Members, $45 Members
Sound Art as a discipline uses the sound of the world as we hear it as the primary medium for artistic expression. It straddles the line between music, sound design and conceptual art. In the past, you would need expensive recording equipment to make this work happen. But now the smartphone you carry in your pocket is enough to record, manipulate, arrange, mix and share your sound art with the rest of the world. In this two-day workshop series come learn the basics of smartphone sound art: recording with your smartphone, how to create quality field recordings, manipulating and assembling sounds, sound art theory and aesthetics, and how to best document and present your work. At the end of this workshop, you will have completed your first work of sound art and have all the tools necessary to create more!
SUPPLIES: Must have a smartphone and they must be able to download and run N-Track from the Google Play or Apple App Store. They will need to purchase a PRO license which can be had for $1.99 a month. Their phone must also be capable of recording (ex voice memo.)
