Progressive Beginner Watercolor
Thursdays, July 9 - August 13 [6 Weeks]: 6:30 - 9 PM [Kate Worman-Becker]
This instructor-lead independent study course will include class discussions on design, techniques, and color. An emphasis will be placed on personal style, vision, and the emotive qualities of one's work. Each participant will work from reference material of their choosing - photos, drawings, etc. - to create original watercolor paintings.
Ages 16+
SUPPLIES: Reference imagery such as photos, drawings, still life items, or artworks you wish to emulate. Due to the drying time of watercolor, you will need at leas 2-3 paintings to work on during class. Pencils, erasers [pink and kneaded], palette, water containers and small spray bottle, small absorbent towel, tracing paper, small pad sketch paper, small watercolor pad, and intermediate grade watercolor brushes [1" flat, #12, #8, #4 round]. Transparent Watercolor paint in 5 ml tubes: Aureolin Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Olive Green, Burnt Sienna, and French Ultramarine Blue. Sheets of stretched watercolor paper [suggested Arches 140 lb cold press in 22x30] and gator board [suggested Blick 3/16" thick measuring 32x40" but cut down to fourths]. Please bring any other tools or materials you enjoy using.
