Introduction to Soft Pastels

This workshop provides the basics of painting with soft pastels, introducing the variety of materials that can be used to create vibrant paintings. Pastels are extremely versatile and can be used to create anything from landscapes to florals to portraits to abstracts. Students will create a painting of their choice. Supplies: Students should bring a pencil, eraser, stiff bristle brush (approx. 1" wide) and reference photos. SAA will provide loaner sets of pastels during the workshop, textured pastel paper (Canson or Strathmore Pastel Paper) and sanded pastel paper (Uart 500) 9x12"
