Intro to Metals and Jewelry
Wednesdays September 25 - November 13: 6 - 9 PM [Poppy Vincent]
This class will enable you to confidently solder together a pendant or ring or anything in-between. You will learn how to properly file and saw metal as well as using a gas torch to solder metal together. Forming and imprinting metal will be covered as well as different types of soldering. Depending on student abilities, we will explore simple construction and stone setting. Copper will be the metal of choice to practice and learn techniques. If the student wants to graduate to using sterling silver, it will be available for purchase as well as any stones.
SUPPLIES: You will be provided with information to purchase your own supplies from Rio Grande. Bring a notebook and pencil to take notes. Always tie back long hair. Wear clothes without loose sleeves.
