Intermediate Watercolor

Tuesdays October 1 - November 19 : 6:30 - 9 PM [Kate Worman-Becker]
Intermediate Watercolor will be an instructor lead, independent study course with classroom discussions on design, technique and color. An emphasis will also be placed on the artist's personal style, vision, and the emotive qualities of their work. Each class participant will work from reference material of their choosing - photos, drawings, etc. to create original watercolor paintings.
Supplies:
You will be working on individual paintings so please bring photos and/or drawings of your own, or bring photos of other artist’s work you would like to emulate. Due to the drying time of watercolor you will need at least 2 - 3 pieces to work on during class. Reference material should be of good quality. In other the subject you wish to paint should be in sharp, clear detail and at least 5 x 7 in size.
Palette
2 containers for water
absorbent towel or paper towel
#2 or 2B pencil
pink eraser
kneaded rubber eraser
small spray bottle
tracing paper
sketch paper
scratch watercolor paper or pad brushes - 1” flat, #12, #8, #4 round
paint - No need to purchase paint if you have tube paints in the primary colors and a brown. This list is a good starter base. Aureolin Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Hooker’s Green,
Burnt Sienna, French Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna
paper - Arches 140 lb cold press, 4 sheets 22x30
gator board - recommend Dick Blick 3/16 thickness, 1 sheet 32x40 cut in fourths = 4 16x20 boards several original photographs or sketches you wish to paint
Supplies can be purchased through Cheap Joe’s or Blick Art Materials (Dick Blick)
Please bring any paints or supples of you own.
