Furin Wind Chime

Tuesday December 31

10:00 AM  –  11:00 AM

Furins, also known as Japanese wind chimes, were created to ward off epidemics. It was believed that singing chimes would ward off the illness that would spread by the strong winds and humidity of the summer. Enjoy the songs of the wind chimes as pleasant ambience displayed outside of your home. The light moving paper produces a gentle chime that brings awareness of a cool flowing breeze.  The glass globe was created in SAA's Baima Glass Studio by Mario Clarke by blowing  a small piece of hot glass into a small bubble Once cool, a string will be fed through that hole to hold the zetsu (paper clapper). You may paint your own design - follow the directions as you must paint the inside of the glass! Enjoy this beautiful art form. Supplies include: Acrylic paint set, 4 paint brush set, glass blow bell, borro glass clapper, 2 wooden beads, string, paper clapper, mod podge (to seal the paper after it has been painted.) You will be provided with step-by-step instruction and resources inside your kit.
