Tuesday July 9

6:30 PM  –  9:00 PM

Tuesdays July 9 - August 27 : 6:30 - 9 PM [Kate Worman-Becker] As a class we will create 5 paintings together focusing on the traditional practices of linear brushwork, washes and glazes, as well as fun techniques of pouring, splattering and resist, that can only be achieved with the unique medium of watercolor. We will also focus on all the elements of design and applying them to create a solid composition.
Supplies:
Book - (recommended but not required)
The Watercolorists Answer Book: 425 tips, techniques and solutions by Gina Rath - Can be purchased through Amazon
palette - styrofoam meet packaging trays work beautifully
1 container for water - rinsing brushes - whipped topping tubs are great
absorbent towel or paper towel - cloth diapers, if you can still find them, are the best
#2 or 2B pencil
pink eraser
kneaded rubber eraser
small spray bottle - check the drug store “travel” section
tracing paper - small pad
sketch paper - small pad
scratch watercolor paper or pad
brushes - 1” flat, #12, #8, #4 round - Buy, at least, an intermediate grade brush or above. Student grade brushes are poor quality. Prices vary dramatically depending on quality.

paint - You need not purchase any paint if you have tube paint in the primary colors and a brown. This list is a good starter base. I prefer paint from the tubes rather than pans. Prices vary slightly with brands. The material price estimate for this class is a brand average in tubes. Good quality paint in 5 ml tubes run between $7 - 17 depending on the color.
