"Awakened," a Personal Perspective of Abstraction in Oil

Saturdays, July 15 - August 5 (4 Weeks), 9:30AM- Noon [Patty Bryant]
For the beginning and intermediate painter, focus will be on exploring and embracing the student's personal perspective of abstraction and their individual experience of painting in oil. Combined application of theories and techniques from different genres will be used to help the student begin to or further develop their own unique style. Specific strategies designed to stimulate creativity, build confidence, and work through challenges that are inherent to the medium will be incorporated throughout the class. Each student will work to develop 1 or 2 square canvases, with recommended size options, minimum 18 x 18, 20 x 20, maximum 24 x 24.
Supply List: 1 - 2 square canvases (minimum 18 x 18, 20 x 20, maximum 24 x 24) Gamsol Mineral Spirits (odorless) Linseed Oil bleached 1 - 2 cotton rags Vinyl Synthetic Exam Gloves (Latex free, Powder free, Protein free) Brushes Round - #8, #6, #4 Filbert - #8, #6, #1 Broad - #14 Flat - #6, #4 Bright - #10. Palette with lid or Palette Paper 12 x 16 Paint (Recommended Colors) Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium lemon or Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, Titanium White, Gold Ochre (Optional Colors) Indigo Blue, Burnt Sienna, Alizaron Permanent, Raw Umber, Sap Green (if you paint with lots of green). We have some oils for you to borrow if you would like to try oil painting without committing to buying your own oil paints.
